“When the area is too seedy, you are much more likely to be assaulted by the john. I don’t usually call the police when it happens because they won’t believe me, or worse yet, they might arrest me for soliciting. I have a few special clients that won’t come into an area they think is unsafe. I usually stay on the main street, where I am in view of passing cars.”

Prostitutes who assist the police may require extra protection because they risk violent retaliation.
