The Tilley Awards were set up by the UK Home Office Policing and Reducing Crime Unit (now the Crime and Policing Group) in 1999 to celebrate problem-oriented projects that have achieved success in resolving issues faced by the police, partners and/or the community.
In 2018, the Tilley Awards were relaunched by the Problem Solving and Demand Reduction Programme, which is being led by South Yorkshire Police following a successful Police Transformation Fund Award.
There are five categories of entry to the Tilley Awards:
- Neighbourhoods
- Police Now
- Investigations
- Partners
- Business support and volunteers
One winner will be identified in each category. Each category winner will then present their project at the National Problem Solving Conference, where an overall winner of the Tilley Awards is announced.
