Dr. Heinonen is legislative manager for the Ford Motor Company. He was formerly assistant professor for the Anti-Counterfeiting and Product Protection Program (A-CAPPP) at Michigan State University where hisĀ research interests included examining crime events to aid problem-solving, policing, spatial crime analysis, and crime prevention theory. His research focused specifically on product counterfeiting, understanding and responding to street robbery and police staffing. Before joining MSU, Dr. Heinonen was a crime analyst with the Uptown Consortium in Cincinnati, Ohio. In this capacity, he collaborated with city and university police agencies, non-profit organizations and community leaders to address crime problems in Uptown Cincinnati. Dr. Heinonen holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Toledo, a master's degree from Bowling Green State University and a doctorate from the University of Cincinnati, all in criminal justice.
